Friends I have come up with a mission statement! I like it quite well and I want to share it with you, so here it is:

To live freely and nobly with passion, that is always backed by principle.

Freedom
I want to be free from unreasonable financial burdens. I want to be free from obligations that handicap autonomy. I want to be free from the preoccupation of possessions. I want to be free from sin. I want to be free to live my life with dignity and respect.

Nobility
I want to be noble and care for my fellow man. I want to value people and treat them with respect for "we are all linked together in the great web of humanity and what ever we can do to uplift others will also result in blessings upon ourselves", Ellen White. I want to be noble enough to put the needs of my family before myself; I want them to be a priority. I want to have integrity in my personal and public life.

Passion
I want to live life passionately. I want to have passion for my career. I want to be passionately in love with my wife. And most importantly, I want to be passionate about my relationship with God.

Principle
I want all of these things to be back by principle, Biblical principles that won't change. I want to be lead by Gods teachings and commandments. I want to be a man that will stand for the right thought the heavens fall.

Beautiful Woman

Beautiful Woman,

I am not sure if we have met or not, but I want you to know that I am searching for you. And when I you, I will fight for you. I will be malicious if I have to. I will even take a bullet for you, though I would prefer not too. I will stand by you.

I maybe a weak man, I am not going to lie about that. I struggle sometimes to maintain my purity. And that is why I am writing you, to remind me that you are worth waiting for.

You are a captivating woman inside and out. Your eyes are like droves. Your hair is like a flock of goats. All beautiful you are, my darling; there is no flaw in you. Your thoughts are elevated. You are like Abigail, both beautiful and intelligent. You are one that is defined as radically beloved by God. You are not governed by emotion but by principle. You are lovely within and without.

Darlin, my love, we will find our way home,

Dylan

Tell Me What Success Is

If you don’t define what success is for yourself, society will define it for you. And that could have terrible consequences. In fact I am convinced that what society tells us is success is a lie! The world tells us to seek more power, money, and fame. But guess what, I promise you, this kind of lifestyle will leave you desperately wanting and never content.

This summer I have thought a lot about this topic and this is what success if for me…

To find my identity in God, as one beloved by Him. To be lead by His teachings and commandments. This genuine service will spring from a genuine knowledge of Him. The better I know God, the more I will love Him. The more I love Him, the better I will serve Him. I want to look to God to help me to make the right choices in life. My relationship with God is the true foundation for success.

To be committed to marriage, family, and the community I live in. As my love for God increases so will my love for my fellow man. I believe that in the end, the most important thing a father can do for his children is to love their mother. I want to be passionately in love with my wife and at the same time, I want my love to always be backed by principle. I want to be mindful to give priority to family over work. I want to spend time with my children teaching them in the ways of life and building character in them. I want to be apart of a community of believers that aren’t afraid to reevaluate what they believe in, a group that is actively searching and studying scripture. I want to be held accountable to these people and want to know them intimately. I want to experience true fellowship.

To have integrity in my personal and public life. I want to live a life of consistency. I want to practice what I preach and if I don’t I want to be called out. Part of having integrity is practicing good stewardship. I want to be a good steward with the things God has blessed me with and not just the material things but also caring for my body and the environment.

These are the things that really matter in life. They are the only things in fact that we can take to heaven. This life is short but eternity is forever! I would hate to miss out on the grandeur picture.

American Identity

This last semester I was taking General Biology and to be frank with you, it was hard, real hard; at least it was for me. In fact I never got over a 59 percent on the tests. This was very humbling since I can't claim that I have ever preformed this poorly in college, as you can imagine this lowered my self-esteem quite rapidly. I was letting this class identify who Dylan Wren was. But then the Lord brought to my attention these two Bible verses:

"But our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ, who by the power that enables him to bring everything under his control; will transform our lowly bodies so that they will be like his glorious body," Philippians 3:20

"You are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus… If you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise," Galatians 3:26 & 29

This is our true identity! We are sons and daughters of God, citizens of heaven. These things can not be taken away from us. It is the core of who we are. All of these other things in life are secondary. We can't let material possessions, grades, careers, or any thing else for that matter define who we are. All of those things could be taken away in a heart beat. But our true identity can never be taken; all we have to do is claim it.

Welcome

Well, I have been creating blog post on myspace for the last year and have decided that I am ready to take it to the next level. This is the real deal, now! So I hope that this new effort will make my post more creditable and hopefully increase the number of viewings I receive. Because currently I feel like my writings are under valued, simply because they are associated with myspace, but not any more. So here it is my new blog, enjoy.

Community

We live in the most hyper-individualized society the world has ever seen. Most of us don't even know our next-door neighbors. We commute to work and school, alone. We are left to rise and falls based on our own efforts. Each one of us is left lacking accountability and commitment to our families, communities, and churches. It seems like every aspect of our lives is motivated by the desire for material goods. But is this really what we want? According to psychologist "our greatest wish is for more contact with other people" (National Geographic). We try to fill the absence of community with these temporal goods but it will never satisfy us. The most valuable things in this world aren't things, it is people. We can only take our relationships and experiences to heaven. This is what really matters.

Here's My Propaganda...

We live in the greatest and most prosperous nation on earth. We have freedom, beautiful scenery, clean water, a dependable economy, lots of American know-how, and a stable government. God has truly blessed America; there is no doubt about it. We are some of the wealthiest people in the world. Not only are we rich but we also have influence. We are a people that have been empowered! We are global citizens and we have a responsibility to our nation and the world we live in.

From my experience most of us don't know that much about the rest of the world. We are too often caught up in our own little worlds. We need to change this and then with the knowledge we have gained we need to make a difference. There is a lot of injustice in this world and to those who are given much, much is expected. As Americans, as Christians, as global citizens with influence, we are called to make a difference. So whatever it is that you feel is important, use your influence to make a positive difference.

"We can change the world as our view of the world is changed." Chris Blake

Train Jumping

Today was a great feat for Project: Live Your Life! Israel and I successfully jumped onto a moving freight train. The destination was unknown and the weather was less then inviting. Shortly after boarding, the train was held up in the Lincoln yard for an hour and a half. Israel and I hid in some coils in a gondola car to avoid detection from the railway police. When the train finally left the yard, I climbed up onto one of the coils as the train sped thru the Nebraska countryside. It was amazing; I felt like I had just joined the kings of the universe club! With the exception of the unforgiving wind, the moment was perfect.

Two hours later, the train pulled onto a siding in Dorchester, Nebraska, population 621. Deciding that this was our destination, we deboarded the train, only to discover that there was an approaching train headed towards Lincoln, on the mainline. Unfortunately this train wasn't hobo compliant.

As we walked into the town, I couldn't help but sing, dam it feels good to be a gangsta. Because that it how it was. I mean we had just jumped of a train and now we were walking down the middle of this ghost town. Matt Turk, we are hardcore!

In town we found shelter and food at the local grocery store. An hour later Amy and Tyler picked us up.

Meet Me In Munich

Meet me in Munich, the capital of Bavaria. It's not going to be the 1972 Olympic Games and there won't be any Israeli retaliation. But I do guarantee that it will be an adventure. We will go to Salzburg, home of Sound of the Music, Liechtenstein, just to get our passport stamped, and Ljubljana, where we will eat at riverside café, before continuing to the capital of Croatia, Zagreb. Then we will go to Split and sleep on the beach of the Adriatic Sea. After that we will head north to the Schonbrunn Palace in Vienna, before arriving in the heart of Europe, Prag, Prague, Praha, call it whatever you will-the most beautiful city in the world! And there is where we will end our perfect trip together.
